A quiet town is shaken when young Will Byers mysteriously disappears, and his friends, family, and the local police begin a desperate search. Along the way, they encounter Eleven, a strange girl with supernatural powers, and uncover the terrifying truth of a parallel world called the Upside Down. As Joyce communicates with her son through flickering lights, Hopper discovers the secret lab that opened the gate, and the children face a monster that hunts across worlds. In the end, Will is rescued and the monster destroyed, but Eleven vanishes, and it becomes clear the darkness of the Upside Down has not truly left.
