In this episode of The Office, the team plans Meredith's birthday party. While Michael, Pam and Jim are up for it, Dwight is hesitant because of the cost. Jim secretly forms an alliance with Dwight to protect himself from the rumors of layoffs. Dwight agrees, and they keep their plan a secret, although Pam begins to suspect something is up. The episode mixes office politics, secret alliances and humor as they plan the party.
