Frank Bryce overhears Voldemort and Wormtail plotting Harry's death in the Riddle House and is killed. Harry wakes at the Dursleys with his scar burning. He joins the Weasleys for the Quidditch World Cup, which is disrupted by Death Eaters and the Dark Mark. At Hogwarts, Harry is unexpectedly chosen as a fourth Triwizard champion. He faces dangerous tasks, showing bravery and integrity, despite Ron's jealousy. The Yule Ball strains friendships, especially between Hermione and Ron. In the final task, Harry and Cedric are transported to a graveyard where Voldemort returns, kills Cedric, and Harry escapes to warn everyone. The year ends somberly with a memorial for Cedric, and Harry prepares for the battle against Voldemort's rising power.
