Agnes Grey is the youngest daughter of a pastor. Her family finds itself in a financial bind and to help them, Agnes decides to become a governess. Her time in two families will reveal to her that the situation of governess is not the easiest. Anne, the youngest of the Bronte sisters, drew on her own experience as a governess to write this first novel in which she denounces the educational deficiencies of children in certain wealthy families.
