읽는 글의 대부분은 단어 천 개로 이루어져요

영어에는 단어가 수십만 개 있지만, 시작하는 데 필요한 건 그중 아주 일부예요. 이 페이지의 천 단어는 학습자가 가장 먼저 만나는 단어들로, be, have, that으로 시작해요. Lingard의 A1, A2 레벨 ‘가장 유용한 단어’ 컬렉션에서 가져왔고, 앱에서 배우는 순서 그대로예요. 단어마다 발음과 뜻, 그리고 실제 쓰임을 보여 주는 예문 하나가 있어요.

가장 까다로운 건 처음 백 개예요. get, take, up 같은 단어는 뜻이 하나로 정해져 있지 않아요. get up, get home, get a letter를 떠올려 보세요. 그래서 여기서는 모든 단어에 예문이 붙어 있어요. 영어는 단어 목록만으로는 결코 충분하지 않아요.

이 목록의 단어를 익히는 방법

목록을 처음부터 끝까지 순서대로 외우지는 마세요. 단어 백 개를 읽고, 뜻을 가린 다음 이미 아는 단어가 어떤 건지 확인해 보세요. 처음 몇백 개에서는 대부분 생각보다 많이 알고 있어요.
