Soldatengeschichten

Rudyard Kipling

This volume contains seven stories about ordinary British soldiers in colonial India. At their center are the friends Terence Mulvaney, Stanley Ortheris, and John Learoyd, who share barracks schemes, guard duty, memories, and dangerous situations. Kipling’s rough humor joins comradeship and homesickness to a clear-eyed view of discipline, class divisions, and the hardships of a soldier’s life.
