What do you eat in the morning? Maybe bread, eggs or cereal. In other countries, people often eat very different things for breakfast. Let's take a trip around the world and look at five breakfasts!

Japan

A traditional Japanese breakfast is a small meal on many small plates. There is rice, miso soup, fish and some vegetables. Today, many people in Japan also eat toast in the morning, but rice and soup are still very popular.

England

The famous "full English breakfast" is a big, hot meal. It has eggs, bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast. That is a lot of food! Many people eat it only on weekends. On weekdays, they usually have cereal or toast with a cup of tea.

France

In France, breakfast is small and sweet. People eat a croissant or bread with butter and jam. Adults drink coffee, and children often drink hot chocolate. Some families drink it from a big bowl, not from a cup!

Turkey

A Turkish breakfast is a big table with many small plates: bread, white cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs and honey. People drink black tea from small glasses. The Turkish word for breakfast is "kahvaltı". It means "before coffee".

Mexico

Many people in Mexico like a hot and spicy breakfast. One favorite is "chilaquiles": pieces of tortilla with red or green salsa, cheese and sometimes an egg. Another one is "huevos rancheros" — eggs on tortillas with tomato sauce.

Big or small, sweet or spicy, every country has its own way to start the day. What is your favorite breakfast?
