A quiet town is rocked when young Will Byers mysteriously disappears, and his friends, family, and the local police begin a desperate search. Along the way, they encounter Eleven, a strange girl with supernatural powers, and discover the terrifying truth of a parallel world called The Other Side. While Joyce communicates with her son through flickering lights, Hopper discovers the secret lab that opened the door, and the children face a monster that hunts between worlds. In the end, Will is rescued and the monster destroyed, but Eleven disappears, and it becomes clear that the darkness of The Other Side is not truly gone.
