Pierre Loti's "Aziyadé" is a semi-autobiographical story set in Istanbul. It tells the story of the romance between a French naval officer (the author himself) and Aziyadé, a young Turkish woman. The book explores the challenges of their intercultural relationship and the complexities of life in Istanbul at that time.
