A quiet town is turned upside down when young Will Byers mysteriously disappears, and his friends, family, and the local police begin a desperate search. Along the way, they meet Eleven, a strange girl with supernatural powers, and discover the terrifying truth of a parallel world called the Upside Down. As Joyce communicates with her son through flickering lights, Hopper discovers the secret lab that opened the door, and the children confront a monster that hunts between worlds. In the end, Will is saved and the monster destroyed, but Eleven disappears, and it becomes clear that the darkness of the Upside Down isn't truly gone.
