Frank Bryce overhears Voldemort and Wormtail plotting Harry's death at Riddle House and is killed. Harry awakens at the Dursleys' with his scar burning. He joins the Weasleys for the Quidditch World Cup, which is interrupted by Death Eaters and the Dark Mark. At Hogwarts, Harry is unexpectedly chosen as the fourth champion of the Triwizard Tournament. He faces dangerous tasks, showing bravery and integrity, despite Ron's jealousy. The Yule Ball tests friendships, especially between Hermione and Ron. In the final task, Harry and Cedric are transported to a graveyard where Voldemort returns, kills Cedric, and Harry manages to escape to warn everyone. The year ends somberly with a memorial for Cedric, and Harry prepares for battle against Voldemort's growing power.
