Meanwhile, Merry and Pippin escape the brutal Uruk-hai and find refuge with Barbapasa, the ancient Ent, who leads a march against Saruman, resulting in the destruction of Isengard. Frodo and Sam, guided by the treacherous Gollum, navigate the Dead Marshes and the hideout of the monstrous Shelob, where Frodo is captured by Orcs. Believing Frodo to be dead, Sam bravely resolves to continue the quest alone, only to realize he must attempt a daring rescue.
