Seong Gi-hun, drowning in debt, accepts an invitation to participate in deadly children's games with the promise of a huge cash prize. Joining 455 other participants on a remote island, the first game, "Red Light, Green Light," reveals the lethal stakes. Despite a vote to leave, many, driven by desperation, return. Gi-hun forms alliances but faces betrayals in games such as "Tug-of-War" and "Marbles." The arrival of VIPs exposes the games as a spectacle for the rich. Gi-hun survives the deadly challenges, eventually facing his childhood friend, Sang-woo, in the final game. Gi-hun wins but is left haunted by trauma and loss. A year later, he discovers the games continue and vows to end them, preparing for a mission to dismantle the sinister organization behind them.
