Harry Potter spends a miserable summer with the Dursleys. On his birthday, a house-elf named Dobby appears, warning him not to return to Hogwarts. Despite Dobby's efforts to keep him away by intercepting letters and causing chaos, Harry is determined to return. His friend Ron and his brothers rescue him in their flying car and take him to their home, the Burrow, where Harry enjoys a warm and welcoming environment. Later, Harry, the Weasleys, and Hermione head to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies, where Harry encounters Draco Malfoy and his father, Lucius. Harry accidentally ends up with a mysterious diary that holds more than meets the eye. Despite several warnings and strange occurrences, Harry is determined to return to Hogwarts for another year.
