In the arena, Katniss uses her survival skills to stay alive, forms a bond with Rue, and faces betrayal and loss. A change in the rules allows for dual victory, and Katniss finds and nurses Peeta back to health. In the final showdown, they defy Capitol rules by threatening to kill each other with poison berries, forcing the Capitol to declare them both winners. Returning home, they confront the reality of their defiance, understanding that their actions have sparked a potential rebellion against Capitol tyranny.
