Le Seigneur des Anneaux Livre 1

J.R.R. Tolkien

In the peaceful Shire, the hobbits live peaceful and contented lives. Among them, Bilbo Baggins plans an extraordinary party for his one hundred and eleventh birthday, at which he mysteriously disappears, leaving behind a magical ring for his young cousin, Frodo. Years later, Gandalf reveals the dark history of the ring, urging Frodo to leave the Shire to protect it from the Dark Lord Sauron. Joined by loyal friends, Frodo sets out on a perilous journey. Along the way, they encounter various allies and dangers, including the enigmatic Strider and the ancient wise Tom Bombadil. The Fellowship, now made up of representatives of all the free peoples, forms in Rivendell with a mission to destroy the ring at Mount Doom. Their journey is fraught with treacherous paths, Gandalf's loss in Moria, and Boromir's inner struggle as he succumbs to the temptation of the ring. Eventually, Frodo decides to continue alone, but the faithful Sam insists on accompanying him, while the remaining members of the Fellowship pursue the captured Merry and Pippin, vowing to protect Middle-earth from the impending darkness of Sauron.
